Fashion & Color Inspirations Spring/Summer 2009

by Cat | July 13, 2009

The weather is warming up, and it’s that time of the year to have fun with mixing and combining pieces in your closet! General fashion considerations and styling directions are usually in three categories: Chic, Classic and Casual:

Chic
shades are inspired by a harmonic and natural world, invaded by the warm and fascinating colors of plants. Basic colors conveying quiet and pureness, but taking us back to the ’60s when combined with green and violet, with more cutting vivid spirit.

The Classic world is deeply inspired by colors of the Mediterranean beaches, where the strong appeal of the sea combines with the period of figurative arts. Flaming and almost primary colors convey strength and energy, but drive us towards a measured chromatic indiscipline through creative and post-futuristic combination, daring with creative couplings.

Casual colors reflect the cold light of pixels and deformed effects. Unusual combination remind us of new forms of mimetism. Iron grey cuts these colors and makes them matchable, while deep yellow inflames them of a dazzling light with psychedelic effects.

How To Care For Your Swarovski Crystal Jewelry

by Cat | July 13, 2009

swarvoski_care

Swarovski, they say, is the girl’s new best friend. No jewelry enthusiast can resist this top quality crystal! No wonder it’s so popular these days. You can restore the brilliance of your Swarovski by wiping it using baby wipes and then cleaning it further with a dry, smooth, and clean cloth. Another way is to make a solution consisting of water, dish soap, and alcohol. This solution will help to get all the hairspray, facial oils, and other things off the surface of the jewelry to restore that incredible shine!

To make the solution, you will need:

  • 3/4 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol
  • 1/2 tablespoon of dish soap or Johnson’s and Johnsons Baby Shampoo.

Close the lid and shake thoroughly to mix the ingredients. Then place your jewelry in the solution and replace the lid. You will only need to eave it in there for one or two minutes, I would not recommend longer than that unless it is necessary. While your crystals are soaking GENTLY swirl the container for 30 seconds and then let it sit for the remaining minute. Then remove your crystal jewelry and run it under warm water to remove the soap and dry it in a clean cotton cloth. It will look like you just bought it!

How to avoid mistakes in wearing the wrong jewelry

by Cat | July 10, 2009

Kaoru Studio: Latest post

It’s a common mistake to ruin your fabulous outfit with the wrong piece of jewelry. Learn how to avoid those mistakes and pick the right piece!

Go Bold and Beautiful
Wearing the bold jewelry takes confidence and fashion know-how. The main thing to remember is ‘less is more’. Forget the ‘bling-bling’ ring and big earrings, if you’re wearing a chunky bangle and necklace. Don’t wear prints when you’re wanted to wear big and bold jewelry. It’s perfect as sleek all-black and all-white with big or colorful jewelry. You can have fun with the coral and turquoise and the last thing to remember is the larger a stone, the less real it looks.

Mix Metals
Wearing gold with gold and silver with silver can creating a more traditional look. The trick is, keep the style of modern jewelry the same, if you want to mix the metals. A modern gold cuff won’t look right paired back to dainty, antique platinum and diamond earrings. The ‘stacking trend’ lends itself perfectly to the mixing of metals. Stack square or round rings or bangles in different shades of gold and you can even layer gold and silver necklaces for a fashion forward look.

Necklace Length Chart

Wear the Right Necklace Lengths
Wearing the wrong length necklace with a particular neckline is probably the most common mistake that women make when it comes to wear the jewellery. Here are some simple guidelines for getting it right.
* Collar necklace should lie snugly around the middle of the neck, and can be worn with boat-neck, V-neck and off-the-shoulder tops.
* Chokers fall perfectly at the base of the neck and it looks great with strapless or plunging necklines.
*Princess length necklaces (17-19 inches) fall just below the throat. This is the most common and versatile length of necklace. It can also be worn with most necklines except the high ones and add a V-neck for a pretty look.
* Matinee length necklaces (20-24 inches) hit the top of the bust and it’s best not to wear with plunging necklines. It will be fighting for the attention with your top, if the necklace hits the very top of your neckline.
* Opera length necklaces (28-34 inches) fall below the bust and look great with a very high neckline. It can be worn from day to evening and this length can be doubled for a multi-strand look.

Considering Your Age and Body Type
It can also draw attention to your not-so-positive areas as a piece of jewelry can accentuate the positive.
* The chokers are made for women with more youthful skin and the one who have an aging necks will want longer chains and necklaces to draw attention from any neck imperfections.
* You can balance that by wearing the graduated necklace, if you’re having a wide neck, which are very thin around the side of the neck and larger below the collarbone.
* Try a triple-strand necklace, with the shortest strand hugging the base of the throat, if you have a long, thin neck that you don’t want to accentuate and avoid V-shaped chains.
